Founded in 1968, FHAS works to prevent and end homelessness through programs and services that not only help stabilize, but also address finances and help build assets that lead to independence and lay the foundation for wealth. FHAS' Mission is to improve the quality of life and eliminate poverty by helping people achieve housing stability and financial security.

Our programs reach low-to-moderate income persons seeking to avert a crisis and/or improve their housing, finances, and quality of life through a unique combination of services that change the way we think about money, saving, spending priorities, and preparing for the future, thereby, eradicating poverty and bringing about self-sufficiency, changing the landscape of impoverished communities and our city, one household at a time.

FHAS' unique comprehensive array of services assists with all aspects of housing from entry level to homeownership and microbusiness ownership, and combines housing stability with financial security in a hand-up rather than a hand-out approach, empowering people to say, "We have done it ourselves."
